Doree Burt grew up in Orange County, California and has lived in Los Angeles, New Hampshire, and Utah.
She has enjoyed church service as a teacher, Primary chorister, Cub Scout leader, Relief Society president, Primary counselor, and Young Women’s president.
Doree is a mother of three adult children, a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children) volunteer, and a freelance writer. Her current church calling is co-president, with her husband, of the Cache Valley Area Adult Special Needs Mutual. She describes this unique and inspirational 15 LDS stake weekly program as “Not very churchy, but way Jesus, disguised as fun.”
Doree has represented Mormons Building Bridges in various radio and newspaper interviews and testified on MBB’s behalf for the passage of Utah Senate Bill 262 (LGBT Non-Discrimination) and for the allowance of GSA clubs in Box Elder School District. Her specific areas of oversight with MBB are Out of the Darkness walks and Pride parades.
